Dutch bakery FreeOf produces all kinds of bread products completely gluten-free for people on a diet, for those who simply want to eat gluten-free or for those who suffer from gluten sensitivity. This disease can be defined as a non-allergic and non-autoimmune condition in which the consumption of gluten can lead to symptoms similar to those observed in coeliac disease or wheat allergy. For FreeOf, Stepfive created an appetizing looking and modern packaging design for the complete range of FreeOf products.
It’s time to enjoy healthier, better tasting and better looking gluten-free breads!
The exhibition ‘Food Forward‘ presents scenarios for the future of our food based on the work of artists and designers. The starting point is the video ‘The Hunt’ by Christian Jankowski (DE) that humorously puts the estrangement between city dwellers and food on edge. John O’Shea (UK) pushes the limits of the law in his attempts to achieve a more humane meat production and meat consumption scheme. Michiko Nitta and Michael Burton (UK) will present two scenarios from their larger study of life after agriculture: the symbiosis between humans and algae and a functional food regime. Arne Hendriks (NL) finally explores the possibilities and consequences of shrinking men to 50 centimeters. Food Forward Exhibition:
15 January 2012 / 01 April 2012. Location: Hogewal 1-9, The Hague, The Netherlands
Stepfive developed packaging design (a tissue box) as part of an introduction campaign for a new take on a typical Dutch snack, the Frikandel. This new breed contains onion, so we thought it was appropriate to reach out to anyone eating it by providing free tissues for all those teary eyes. ‘So good, you could cry’.
Health and convenience also becomes more and more important within the Dutch food industry. That’s why Zwanenberg Food Group choose for ‘the other way to snack’ with Pinchitos Tapas Spears: no chips, but a healthy and light meat snack, that only takes one minute in the microwave to prepare. Together with Boom Packaging, Stepfive created a fresh and open packaging design along with the Pinchitos brand identity for this healthy snack in five different flavors.
At this years CES 2011, Fulton Innovation makes the power of wireless energy visible. The video above shows light up wireless animated cereal boxes powered by inductive coupling technology. The idea is to have wireless power available in everything, from tabletops to grocery aisles to parking garages.
A pretty cool innovation and an excellent way to push packaging design to the max.
Dutch entrepeneurs in the food industry are producing durable products more and more often. It appears consumers choose durably produced food over regularly produced food and because of that, the Ministry of EL&I wants to increase the supply of durable products on the market.
These are some conclusions that were made during the ‘Duurzaam Food Congres’ (Durable Food Congress) that took place the 25th of january. Read more
